Hi, I'm Alexandria Sandlin aka Cherrybones but mostly I go by Alex. I am a full time artist living and working in Seattle Washington. My artwork fits in the Pop Surrealist / Urban Contemporary genres. I mostly paint big eyed girls and surreal, fairy tale themes. I love to use lots of bright color but I also work in a muted palette from time to time. It depends on the piece I am working on and the mood I'm trying to set. I enjoy using subtlety in my work to draw the viewer into the piece with a seemingly sweet scene but on closer inspection you see strange or sinister things. I paint mainly with acrylic paint on canvas, wood or clay board panels. Now and again I will use watercolor, pencil, ink or some other medium.
I am a self taught artist and I have been exhibiting and selling my
work since around 2003 if my memory serves me. I'm terrible with names
and dates! Thanks to the internet and some of the galleries I work with
my art is collected worldwide. I have been published in several books,
most notably Big Eye Art Resurrected And Transformed by Toni Boozer AKA
Blonde Blythe!
A little about me:
I like to paint and I like to draw. My husband plays with electricity. We have a mellow Chihuahua named Sunflower. We have two old cats named Jasmine and Sylvester. We also have a new kitten that I found in the yard, her name is Mogwai and she is crazy! We live in a tiny old doll house on top of a hill in south Seattle.

My favorite color is lime green and my favorite number is 5.
Favorite foods: vegetables, fruits, creatures that live in the water(no octopus or squid though), spicy foods
Un-favorite foods: almost all mushrooms but especially portabella, beef, chicken fat and skin gross!
Favorite drinks: water, tea, tequila
Music: just about anything that isn't country although I love Dolly Parton
I love to watch birds walking around on the ground, it cracks me up!
Im very shy, I don't really like sleeping, someday I want to live somewhere warm and sunny, I love Harry Potter and Star Trek, I collect dead bugs and other things like stones and plant skeletons. I love gardening and Bikram Yoga. I am awful with names, if you meet me it will take me forever to remember your name. Please don't be offended, I couldn't even remember my husbands full name for like a year when we first started dating.
