First day of fall..

Cleaning up ye olde website and updating some pages here. I got the gallery section going click HERE!

This is just a gallery to peruse, I have a ton of new art I need to add still but its a start.

I have updated the show section with some upcoming shows HERE!

I will be in four shows in October so check it out if you are in Seattle in October. More shows to come before the end of the year, Ill post them when it gets a little closer :)

I am also very sad to report that Happy Delusions in Renton who I have been with for like 4 years is closing up shop =( SO if you are local and you want some of my stuff, prints, framed art, jewelry etc you better get there before the end of September. LOOK HERE!

Starting fall of with a bang for sure, I got to paint until my arms fall off and my eyes dry up so I better go.....

Oh man I just realized I haven't been here to post an update since August. A ton has been happening since then. One of the most important things that has happened is that I have become a partner at Echo Echo Gallery in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle! We have art openings every second Friday during the PhinneyWood artwalk. Here is a link to our website:

Studio and life update for August, woo...

Its been a pretty busy summer so far. Lets see I did a couple shows that I didn't post about here, doh. Best to fan or bookmark my public facebook page for the best updates on shows and stuff:

I took some new paintings into Twilight in West Seattle a bit ago, probably going to go rotate out a few of those soon. I did my first ever show at Urban Light Studios in Greenwood and that was totally cool. I will be doing another show there in September, the theme is Mad Magazine...not sure what I will paint yet but Ill come up with something weird I'm sure. I also did the Mercer Island festival with fellow artist Jonathan Arras of Spirals In Love, his work is way cool and hes a totally cool guy:

Lets see what else, I went to Emerald City Comic Con, haven't been in a few years and that was fun. Its gotten bigger since I had a table in artist alley a few years back. I'm all signed up to do ECCC in 2012 so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm seriously considering Sakuracon as well but I haven't signed up for that yet. I also want to do Wondercon in San Fransisco but they don't have dates set yet so I don't know if Ill be able to do that if the dates end up overlapping one of the other cons Ill be doing, well see...I did finally send in my application for Comicon Intl. but there is a nice wait list for that so who knows when Ill be doing that, I may just send in some art for the art show until I get in.

Also have just been doing a lot of family / friend stuff. Laying in my yard in the sun. Went kayaking for the first time ever and it wasn't as terrifying as I thought it would be, I didn't flip over yay! Trying to get more work done in a day than is possible...the usual.

I have a ton of work and painting and stuff to do today, oh getting a shop set up for the site here to slowly working on that at the moment so not to much to say about that yet but hopefully Ill be able to unveil that finished very soon. ETA: Almost forgot I also did the Fremont solstice fair in June and it was awesome as usual :) Looking forward to that again next year!

Working away...update

Just wanted to post that the Mystical Realm show was really great! I talked with Mary after we took down the remaining artwork and she is looking forward to doing more shows at Happy Delusions and of course I will post here whenever calls for those shows go out :)

I am currently working on the website here. I am trying to get everything a little more streamlined. I am also setting up a Gallery/Shop here and hopefully that will be up soon. I have quite a bit of work to do but it will be pretty cool when its done. Im trying to make it as easy to maintain and edit as possible so that I can keep it updated with new work better.

I also have a show comming up in June that I need to prepare for but Ill post more about that as it gets a little closer.

I have lots of other projects going on right now but Im not ready to talk about any of them in detail just yet so ...until the next update :D

Show description:

This show's focus will be based on the magical land where Unicorns roam free on the grassy plains with the Jackalope's. Fairies and Gnomes tend to the wild flowers and mushrooms of the forest where witches live in bone and candy houses. Trolls hide under bridges to torment travelers, troublesome spirits haunt rivers and lakes to lure passersby to a watery grave. Narwhals fight epic battles with ancient creatures in the deeps of the oceans and the castles in the sky float by without taking notice.

 

Prospectus:

Your work does not need to be narrative but should reflect a fantasy theme. Think fairy tales, nursery rhymes, fairies, unicorns and all other make believe creatures. Your work can be on the sweet side or a darker interpretation, maybe even comical? Have fun with it! Please nothing overtly sexual or violent, tasteful artistic nudity is acceptable. All mediums will be accepted, traditional wall art, sculpture, fiber art, plush etc...artists will be limited to 3 pieces but please note that we may only accept one of the three. The sale commission is 30%. This is a juried show.

 

Submissions must be sent via email.

We will start accepting submissions Tuesday Feb 1^st, the last day to submit will be Monday Feb 28^th 2011.

Artists may submit 5-10 low resolution (72 dpi, 500 pixels high), unzipped jpegs.
File names must be saved in this format: LastNameTitle.jpg

Accepted artists will be notified Friday March 11^th. You will receive an email back if your work is accepted and a list of exhibiting artists will be posted on the shows Facebook Page: Mystical Realm Show, as well as the Happy Delusions Blog: happydelusions.wordpress.com

 

If accepted your work will need to be display/hang ready when dropped off at Happy Delusions. The cutoff date for accepted works to be in for display is Sunday March 27^th and work can be dropped off during business hours. Please call Mary at Happy Delusions if you will need to make any special arrangements regarding your piece/pieces. Opening reception is Friday April 1^st 5:00-9:00 pm, wine and light snacks will be provided.
